Project Description

The Tecnopolo project, part of the Emilia-Romagna ERDF Regional Programme 2021-2027, is a central player in the regional innovation ecosystem. Its role is twofold: acting as a territorial hub to bring the research activities of the High Technology Network’s laboratories closer to businesses, and serving as a strategic partner in enabling transformative innovation processes across the region. Emilia-Romagna is home to 11 managing bodies overseeing more than 20 industrial research sites, with the Tecnopoli network coordinated by ART-ER, the regional development agency. The Tecnopolo di Ravenna operates across three sites and includes eight laboratories accredited to the High Technology Network, involving more than 20 research groups. This robust network of facilities and expertise translates into concrete projects across key areas for regional development: from clean energy production to environmental protection, from innovative materials to marine technologies, through to the enhancement of historical heritage and workplace safety.

Objectives

For the 2025-2027 period, the project pursues the following objectives:

• Access point and guidance: strengthening the role of the Tecnopolo as a gateway for businesses and stakeholders, facilitating the scouting of research needs and access to laboratory infrastructure and equipment
• Technology transfer and acceleration: promoting the visibility of research outcomes with market potential, trialling services to raise their Technology Readiness Level (TRL) and facilitating matching with companies and start-ups
• Territorial engagement and capacity building: facilitating networking and the development of strategic initiatives through workshops, seminars and open innovation activities, including via platforms such as EROI
• Sustainability and digitalisation: supporting businesses in the challenges of the ecological and digital transition, in line with the Pact for Work and Climate and the Smart Specialisation Strategy (S3); the project applies “climate tagging”, allocating at least 15% of resources to climate action and 10% to the circular economy
• International positioning: encouraging participation in European networks and projects, boosting the region’s appeal to investors and talent
